Hey there, my name is Tobias and I want to teach you the piano! Let me show you what I do and what to expect from my lessons - hold your breath, we're going for a dive!
I teach beginner and intermediate players of all ages in different genres like pop, rock, jazz and more. I'm originally from Germany but live in Brighton for 5 years. In 2019, I finished my first class BA (Hons) degree in Songwriting. I'm a passionate pianist and music producer and fell in love with playing and teaching as music has the potential to inspire our daily lives!
Lesson Content
In my lessons, I tailor everything to your current level, giving you exercises and introducing techniques that give you an understanding of the instrument and music theory. I'll provide material that will help you improve during and outside of the lessons and give you weekly homework that will keep you engaged. I'm a very empathetic teacher, therefore I structure my lessons in a way that you don't feel pressured and will be able to follow with ease. The material will be a mixture of technical exercises, learning songs of your choice and music theory - all based on your goals and with the intention to motivate and inspire you to keep you going!
Online & FTF Teaching
If you're looking for lessons in person, I'm based in Hove (BN3 3BB), close to Church Road. My online lessons will be held via Google Meet.
Before the lesson, I will send you an invite link which you can access via your browser or the app (you don't even need a Google account). I've set up my studio in a way that
you will easily be able to follow, i.e double camera setup and colour coded keys (see image).
All you need for your setup is your keyboard, laptop/smartphone and internet access!
References
Studying at a music University taught me a lot about learning and playing the piano, live performances, music theory, composing and music production. Furthermore, I played (and still play as far as quarantine allows) in several bands and have many years of teaching experience.
